Why is it that only firearm owners actually understand the arcane laws and regulations (like ATT’s)? It appears that everyone calling for increased firearm laws don’t understand what we already have on the books, and the futility and expense at the vast majority of them.

1) The “crimes” related to ATT’s are SO serious that no charges/convictions are tracked (if indeed there are any) to monitor the effectiveness of the ATT policy/program. 2) The revocation of an average of 47 ATT’s each year is not qualified. I’d be willing to bet most are for PAL holders whose club memberships have lapsed (required in many provinces to have an ATT and RPAL), rather than for a more serious reason, but again we can’t know since no charges are tracked, let alone correlated with ATT revocations. 3) Millions spent to uphold the bureaucracy of the ATT system… Read more »

When will transparency arrive for the issuance of ATCs? It’s impossible for the applicant to even access all of the forms and instructions required to file an application. One has to pay a non-refundable application fee just to find out if one is even remotely eligible to apply. The critical materials are not online. Yet after having paid the fee, the criteria for approval are still kept secret. And even when the application is denied, there is no explanation given. Nor is it clear whether the requirements are the same across Canada, or up to the discretion of each CFO… Read more »
