Special Thanks to MP Brad Trost for exposing these major weaknesses in the information available regarding the effectiveness of the enforcement of firearms prohibition orders in Canada.
In 2011, in response to an Access to Information Act request the RCMP provided this statistic:
“Number of persons prohibited from owning guns – 324,723 Prohibited Firearms records on CPIC.”

Reads like a lot of Pass the Buck. Presumably the CFO in the jurisdiction works for the Chief CFO so why can’t he/she answer the questions?
What is the relationship between the CFO of jurisdiction and the Police force in that jurisdiction?
Reads like a very disconnected overall firearms program organization and responsibilities.
I believe that Steven Blaney running in the Conservative Party leadership race proposes to transfer the firearms program from the RCMP to
the Minister of Public Safety. This would solve a multitude of problems and should be supported by all firearms owners and organizations.
